Bilateral Investment Treaty: Desiring to promote greater economic cooperation between the United
States and Jordan with respect to investment, the two countries signed a
bilateral investment treaty (BIT) on July 2, 1997. Signing of the BIT hopes to
stimulate flow of private capital and economic development between the two
countries.
Jordan has concluded similar agreements with
Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Romania, Turkey, Malaysia,
Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt, Italy, Algeria and Indonesia.
